About Anna

Anna Marlow has had a passion for the fashion industry since she was little. She has nearly 20 years of experience and has degrees, job experiences and owning businesses in this industry.

Anna began her sewing journey at age 8. She learned how to hand sewing and create clothing for her dolls and herself. Growing up in Maryland, she was raised to understand more of the homestead lifestyle, helping with the farm her family had and watching her parents be self efficient. There were times her mother would bring out the sewing machine and make a curtain here and there. Anna found this so fascinating, how you could take a sheet of fabric and turn it into something. At 10 she began learning how to use patterns and the detail oriented things in fashion. She was lucky enough to have a neighbor who sewed and began to tutored her. The woman was a well versed seamstress that worked in the industry. She took Anna under her wing and taught her the blueprints of the sewing industry.

This passion continued to grow and in Highschool she attended a trade school in Maryland called, the Carroll County Career and Tech Center, for Fashion and Textiles. She was well advanced going into the program and the teacher always reminder her how much potential she had.

Anna found herself interning for Baltimore Fashion Week at 15 and as her graduation from Highschool, she showcased her very first collection at BFW. She created a summer, ready-wear collection to showcase. Anna then decided she would go to college for Fashion and attended FIT in NYC. She continued to grow and learned the ins and outs of the industry on a much more professional level through jobs and internships in the fashion industry. As she graduated college she decided to try designing another collection, so at age 20 she showcased a bridal collection. She searched for interest in the collection and building a brand around this, but she was unable to find a good fit in a business partner after many meetings and interactions.

After a short time out of college, she design custom gowns, garments and did alterations on the side for quite some time. After this point, Anna then came across Bella Bridesmaids and then had an opportunity open one herself. The franchise is a incredible group of all women owned locations and the parents of the franchise welcomed Anna in with open arms. They saw the potential and helped get her to the next stepping stone in her adventures in life. She opened her location in the late year of 2018 and was off to an incredible start. Then 2020 happened and this is when she learned more than most people would about how to run a business and keep it alive during one of the hardest times of our century.

She learned how to run and keep a brick and mortar business a float during a pandemic and at a time in history of so much unknown and hardship. During the hardship over the pandemic, she found herself sitting at her sewing machine to sew, as a safe haven. It was a place of peace and creativity. She offered “in house” alterations to clients that bought dresses from her store, which allowed Anna to sew on a weekly.

She decided in 2023 she would be moving on to her next chapter in life and focus on what made her happy; sewing and designing. Her exit from the Bella family was bitter sweet, she was ready for her new journey.

This is where the birth of AGM Alterations & Designs. Anna has always found herself back at the sewing machine and her abilities to work with fabric and construct or reconstruct garments, is a gift. She now is sharing her talent and knowledge with others!

“Follow your dreams, and make them goals.”
